EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: 

The Family Justice Center:

The Family Justice Center was established in 2007 through community led efforts to address domestic violence. Residential shelter exists in Georgetown County and will soon open in Horry County. The Family Justice Center has a budget of close to $1M with significant federal and state resources and employs more than 15 people.

Executive Director Role Description:

The Executive Director is a masterful communicator, convener, and collaborator who believes that people would take steps to create a future without violence if they knew what to do. The Executive Director oversees efforts for all people who experience relationship violence in Georgetown and Horry Counties to have access to a safe place to live and avenues for healing from the trauma of relationship violence.

Location:

The Family Justice Center has offices in Myrtle Beach and Georgetown, operates a 24/7 hotline, and manages residential shelter properties. The Executive Director is expected to regularly be available to support staff and attend meetings at both offices and in the community. Occasional night and weekend hours will be required for community events and emergency services. Limited travel to Columbia, SC or other national locations for conferences may be required with significant advanced notice for planning.

Compensation:

The Executive Director is a full-time, salaried position. The Family Justice Center offers a robust benefits package including (100% health insurance premium paid for employee, basic dental/vision/life insurance, accumulated time off and 11 paid holidays; STD/LTD and additional life insurances available for purchase). Salary based on experience with budgeted range from $65,000-$85,000.

Areas of Responsibility Include:

Community and Public Relations:

  • Serve as a partner and collaborator with the Board of Directors in vision setting for FJC
  • Engage diverse partners and stakeholders in identifying new ways to support FJC and increasing engagement in existing stakeholders
  • Oversee a public relations strategy using email, social media, television, print, and other communications vehicles to increase support for FJC
  • Create pathways for all people to support an end of domestic violence as a donor, volunteer, survivor, and/or supporter

 Business Operations Management:

  • Lead development of an annual budget reflecting the organization’s growth trajectory and in line with current economic trends
  • Oversee cashflow management, particularly with regards to grants reimbursement, ensuring organizational objectives are achievable
  • Ensure relationships and practices with vendors, employment, and other obligations are made in a process in line with the organization’s values
  • Develop policies and procedures that are in line with FJC values and comply with all municipal, state, and federal laws

Direct Service Management:

  • Supervise compliance with all grant requirements and best practices for serving people experiencing domestic violence
  • Provide strategic guidance ensuring all eligible community members can access the continuum of services
  • Monitor best practices for service delivery continually evaluating the most effective and efficient methods to help people live a life free from violence

Required Prior Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience making strategic decisions for an organization or business group
  • At least 3 years of experience with federal grants management, contract development, and contract negotiation
  • At least 2 years of experience directing personnel matters ranging from hiring practices to team culture development
  • At least 2 years of experience serving as the face of an organization or managing public-facing communications
  • At least 1 year of experience working with organizations providing congregant living, counseling services, or crisis intervention
  • At least 1 year of experience as a decision maker driving fiscal policy, cash flow management, and budget planning

Preferred Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience working with elected officials
  • At least 2 years of experience with fund development or donor stewardship
  • At least 2 years of experience serving on or managing a nonprofit board of directors
  • At least 2 years of experience with creative problem solving in a resource restricted environment
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in a related field
  • Licensure as an attorney or in clinical services

Relief Staff - Residential Domestic Violence Shelter

Shelter Services staff have the direct responsibility of the provision of domestic violence services to the victims and their families who are residing in the shelter. This person is called in when our residential shelter staff is off and their shift/shifts need to be covered.While it is not mandatory to accept every shift offered, this position requires flexibility and open scheduling. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to relate on a non-judgmental, supportive basis to individuals and groups with a wide range of issues
  • Ability to handle emergency, crisis situations on an independent basis, (training provided)
  • Ability to interact well with diverse persons, organizations and/or groups
  • Knowledge of socio/cultural dynamics of victimization
  • Ensuring security of residents while in shelter
  • Answering the 24/7 Crisis Line. (training provided)
  • Computer documentation and knowledge of office equipment.
  • Transporting Clients, (valid driver’s license required)

Job Type: Relief Staff

Salary: $12.50 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day/Evening/Night shift
  • Holidays
  • Monday to Sunday

COVID-19 considerations: To keep our staff and clients safe from COVID-19 we practice CDC guidelines of washing hands regularly and remaining a distance of 6ft from each other

Education:

  • Associate’s Degree Preferred
  • Experience working with victims of crime preferred
